Octagenarian Mother of Late Football Legend Sam Okwaraji Dies, Aged 83

As contained in letters sent to the Minister of Youth and Sports as well as the Nigeria Football Federation by her eldest son, the death has been confirmed, of Madam Janet Okwaraji, a retired school teacher and proprietress, as well as, the octagenarian mother of immortalized Nigerian International, Samuel Okwaraji. She was aged 83 years.

It is worthy of note that the NFF had approved the payment of stipends to late Samuel Okwaraji and late Rashidi Yekini’s mothers.

The NFF also promised that more surviving mothers of ex-internationals that died in active service for the country would be supported financially besides the pilot beneficiaries.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, had once checked on the well-being of the late Matriach.

Speaking on burial arrangements for the departed matriach, Okwaraji Snr. said details would be communicated to the public as soon as the family had met with their kinsmen in Umudioka Community, Orlu, Imo State.
