PDP ASPIRANT SECURES COURT ORDER; OBASEKI NOT ELIGIBLE FOR PARTY PRIMARY

A PDP aspirant, Hon Ogbeide Ihama, member representing Oredo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, on Monday, secured a Court order restraining Governor Godwin Obaseki from party primaries for Edo 2020 governorship election.

Ihama won on the grounds that Obaseki was not part of the candidates initially screened by the PDP NWC before the lapse of the date on the timetable elapsed. Hence, should not be allowed to participate in the primaries.

Although, PDP leadership has granted Obaseki and his deputy waiver to contest for party’s primary election slated for Thursday June 25, 2020 in Benin, the court has now restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the embattled Governor, should he win the PDP primaries.
