A serious drama of intrigues played itself out yesterday when E Crack officers arrived the magistrate court premises with the officers who were remanded in prison custody since the 19th of September, 2019, without their indicted commander, Benson Adetuyi, when the presiding magistrate had declined Jurisdiction to try their case and had referred them to DPP for advice and prosecution.
The four ex-police officers remanded in prison custody since last year are Eke Chibuzor, Ayogu Fidelis, Egbunefu Felix, and Rose Georgewill. However, Adetuyi, who was the commander of the E-Crack team that committed the crime, was conspicuously missing from the suspects on parade, which got Human Rights Activists on the scene agitated.
The four are facing a 7 count charge bordering on murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit felony.
Ifeanyi Onyekwerre who was among the Ikokwu 4 that were heavily tortured by the rogue officers said though the matter is already in court, it was surprising to him that the State and Federal governments showed abject lack of concern for justice for their aggrieved citizens, citing their show of no concern about his hospital bills which the police authorities were liable to pay as part of damages incurred by their irresponsible officers.
