Imo Boils As Police Officer Shoots Okada Rider Dead Over Face Mask

An incident in which a police inspector shot dead a 27-year-old man for not wearing a face mask has led to mayhem in Imo State.

According to eyewitness accounts, around 3pm that fateful day, the police inspector had stopped the Okada rider and inquired why he was not wearing a face mask. Shortly after, an argument ensued which prompted the officer to fire at close range, resulting in the death of the unfortunate victim.

The gruesome killing resulted in intense rioting by Okada riders, market women and youths of the area, and if not for the timely intervention of security agents, a nearby police station was already being targeted for reprisal attacks.

Imo State Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmodele confirmed the development saying it was indeed true that a policeman killed a man but the situation has been brought under control.  People whose loved ones were killed have a right to be angry.

He also said that One of the policemen was was macheted had been hospitalized.
