The spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, has confirmed the incident on Sunday, 12th July, 2020, in Amukpe, Delta State, where a young man simply identified as Godstime was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend during an argument over a N12, 000 debt.
Reports revealed that the deceased Godstime had gone on a gambling spree with friends and N12,000 had been the total prize money won by the victim at the end of the game, and as is characteristic of such scenarios, an argument had ensued when a disgruntled gambler who couldn’t stomach Godstime walking away with all the money challenged him to dare leave without refunding his money.
As at the time of filing this report, it wasn’t clear whether there had been prior altercations between the two to warrant the brutal attack that was launched shortly after an argument ensued between the two, but at the end of the resulting fight, Godstime was viciously stabbed twice in the belly so bad that guts were spilled.
In an attempt to save his life, other friends and gamblers rushed his dying body to James hospital where he was rejected on arrival.
They then rushed him to The City Hospital, Okirigbagha, where he was unfortunately pronounced DOA-Dead On Arrival.
Friends immediately rushed him to James Hospital where he was allegedly rejected. He was later pronounced dead at the City Hospital in Okirigbagha.
He now lays in the freezer of a mortuary without hopes of ever setting his eyes upon his 3-day old child, whose naming was just a few days away.
The Police have confirmed the arrest of the suspect, whom will be charged with murder in the 1st degree, as soon as all necessary evidence and details have been tidied.
