The Online Reporters Association of Nigeria, ORAN continues its Corporate Social Responsibility on Education through its Covid-19 Protocols Compliance monitoring activities in Private Schools in Ikorodu, to complement the Lagos State Government and Ministry of Education’s efforts at curbing the spread of the dreaded pandemic, in light of the current sharply rising figures of infections and mortality induced by the virus in recent times.
Some of the schools already visited within the Agric, Ikorodu include Gibson Schools, Sessy Schools, Santox Schools, Jolabell School, New Crescent Royal Schools, Josbrig School, Consolation School amongst others.
While Schools like Sessy, New Crescent Royal, Santox and Gibson exhibited a high level of compliance and alertness, some others were partly compliant while the rest were non-compliant at all.
For instance, CrownCrest Academy, situated at Aderemi Adedigba Street, off Nwajei Street, Aiyetoro Busstop, Ori-Okuta, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos, is one of the non-compliant ones. After an initial visit where the pressmen had advised her and given guidelines on compliance as well as time to do the needful, the young lady and director of education whom had initially hidden herself and instructed the cleaner to lie that she had gone to church for her late grandmother’s burial on the Pressmen’s Second visitation, had eventually appeared miraculously with pleas of “Settlement” to douse the ire her nonchalance had drawn. In her desperation, she had even revealed that some Local Government Officials had been coming to collect bribes from her. When asked to furnish the pressmen with the identities or Phone numbers of some of the alleged officers, she had kept mute.

Waste Not Properly Disposed

Another sorry excuse for a school called Tetland which harboured students in a sinking, dilapidated structure in a very unhygienic environment without any demarcation between its swamp water-flooded premises and an adjoining swamp caused a major concern for the visiting ORAN duo of its PRO and Publisher of Dascenario Online/Magazine, Alfred Abiodun, as well as another ORAN member and Editor of Confirmed News, Mr. Segun Iruobe.

In ensuring strict adherence to Government directives and weeding out business entities designed to milk uninformed parents at the detriment of quality education for their children and wards, the ORAN PRO has made known that on completion of the CSR tour, a detailed report and recommendation will be forwarded to the Lagos State Ministry of Education on conclusion of the CSR tour.
